attraction for centuries. Blacksmithing, hand-blown glass making, wagon
making are demonstrated daily. If you enjoy shopping, then Dollywood is a
perfect place for you. At Dollywood there are more than 40 shopping
locations throughout the amusement park. At the shops in Dollywood you can
find anything from home furniture to apparel and hand-made crafts. A main
attraction for Dollywood is their southern cooking. Southern cooking is a
piece of delicious art that you don’t want to miss. There are many fast food
locations and restaurants located throughout the park. If you like to enjoy
the shows, then you can go participate in a dinner and a show. If you do not
have an appetite for the show, then you can visit one of the local
concessions without seating and get it to go.
Dollywood hosts five of the largest festivals in the South. At the “Festival
of Nations” you can enjoy five weeks of cultural events by performers from
around the world. There will be more than 250 performers from all around the
world taking part in the Festival of Nations. You may also want to join your
kids for a fabulous day at “Kid’s Fest”. Starting on June 16, Kid’s Fest
runs until August 6. Dirk Arthur takes the stage in Big Cats & Magic during
Kid’s Fest. Dirk is accompanied by his cast of five members that include
leopards, tigers, and panthers. Dirk is a animal conservationist and grand
illusionist. The Bluegrass and BBQ Festival begins on September 15 and last
through the 27. During this festival Dollywood puts on a free concert
series. While enjoying the music, you can also enjoy the finger-licking BBQ.
Grammy Award-winner Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder kick off the free
concert series. Followed by Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, the
Del McCoury Band, Riders in the Sky, and Cheeryholmes. The National Gospel &
Harvest Celebration kicks off on September 29 and last tills October 28,
2006. At the National Gospel & Harvest Celebration you can experience four
weeks of good ole’ southern gospel concerts, visiting crafters, beautiful
autumn décor and fantastic foods. With the sounds of Southern gospel music's
biggest names including The McKameys, Gold City, Karen Peck & New River, and
the Florida Boys, this festival is a must see event. The Smoky Mountain
Christmas begins on November 4 and last through December 30. The beginning
of the Christmas Festival begins with a premiere from Babes in Toyland. You
