The Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg Tennessee is the
perfect place to take the family for some family fun!! The Ripley’s Aquarium
is located in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg TN. While touring throughout
the Aquarium, you can experience how life under water, truly is. Each tank
provides a different marine environment for all types of animals. When you
enter Ripley’s Aquarium, the introductory tank has a variety of fish
including; angelfish, spadefish, and puffer fish, and other fish found off
the coast of the Carolinas and south to the Caribbean. There are many
different exhibits throughout Ripley's Aquarium.
The Tropical Rainforest exhibit has more than 2,000 species of fish. This
exhibit recreates the marine life of the Amazon Rainforest. While touring
though the Ocean Realm Exhibit you will find at least 250,000 species of
fish the live in the ocean. The species in this exhibit represent at least
fifty percent of vertebrate species. This population outnumbers all mammals,
birds, reptiles and amphibians combined. The Ocean Realm Exhibit will
introduce you to fish of all types of colors, size, and shape. The Coral
Reef is where you may find fish of all colors including blues, pinks,
yellows, oranges, literally every color of the rainbow. This type of species
is from the waters of the Indo-Pacific. Also while visiting the Coral Reef
you may be able to experience of spectacular diving show. The Shark Lagoon
is filled with thousands of fish. The Shark Lagoon tank is the largest and
most popular. This is a acrylic tunnel that is 340 ft long. There are over
100 rays on display at Sting Ray Bay. The sting rays are so gentle that, the
divers can feed them out of their hand. Every hour there is a diving show
that takes place in the String Ray Bay. Also at the Touch-A-Ray Bay, the
kids can enjoy the company of the sting rays. This is a shallow lagoon you
can touch the rays as they glide through your fingers. Even though there
skin fells like sandpaper their skin will not hurt you. Aquarist are
standing for safety issues and to answer any questions that the guest may
have.
At the discovery center visitors can learn about the marine life first hand.
The Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg TN provides a variety of educational
programs on the ocean environment and marine life. The aquarist are on hand
to answer any questions that you may have. Special class times and topics
for discussions are posted at the marine Education Center every day.
Ripley's Aquarium is open 365 days a year. Hours for the Aquarium are Sunday
- Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Friday - Saturday from 9:00
a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Tickets for the Aquarium are $17.95 for adults, Ages 6
-11 $9.95, ages 2-5 are $3.95, and two and under are free. Prices for
tickets do not include taxes. |
